Use Burn-In Sticks
0 Products
Burn-in sticks (lacquer sticks) are used to repair deep damages like scratches or dents in your wooden furniture/floors. To use these Burn-in sticks, the area needing the repair needs to be leveled. Smooth without any dirt/debris. Keep in consideration that the level of difficulty is higher when trying to conceal damages from a tabletop than on surfaces that are in a vertical position. This is because color differences are more noticeable on surfaces that are in a horizontal positions.
To start, you will need a burn in knife to melt the wax sticks. The blade of the knife should not be too hot. Just hot enough where the wax stick material will melt into a creamy texture.
Next, evaluate the area that needs the repairing. How deep the area needing the wax fill-in plays a big factor. In most cases, deep damages should be filled in with a burn-in stick that matches closely to the color of the wood grain. For small dents, a clear burn-in stick may be more beneficial due to the transparency making the blend look natural in all angles.
To apply the lacquer stick, scoop a small amount onto the burn-in knife. Put the melted wax slightly ahead of the deep scratch and drag it into the hole. Note to never stop the burn-in knife while moving it across.
Lastly, spread a lubricant over the damaged area. This will help protect the newly filled in repair and pick up any extra material that is not needed around the area. To find any of these products to help your DIY needs visit http://www.touchupsolutions.com/catalogs.
